Do you ever wish you could have a glass grinder as good as the one you used in class?

If you’ve ever taken a class in working with glass that used a grinder, you may very well have used this little machine.  The Gryphon Gryphette Grinder is very well suited to the beginner with its size, ease of use and smart durable design.  If you’re just starting out in working with glass, or only intend on doing a few pieces a year, then this glass grinder will provide good value.

It has a surprisingly strong motor for its size, so you’ll be able to do a good variety of work with any standard bit size.  The Gryphette grinder already comes with the most commonly used ¾ inch bit, so you’ll be able to start using it right out of the box. 

You’ll have a comfortable working area of about 6 ¾ inches, and the whole unit is only 7 inches tall, with a 8x8 inch footprint.   The design of this grinder’s motor is such that you can increase the torque simply by pushing the glass harder against the grinder.  You may worry that this puts excess strain on the motor, but the manufacturer reports that you’ll get good results even with a 1 inch diamond bit.  You would really have to work extremely hard to try and stall the motor.

This stained glass grinder works well in the classroom environment because it will give students a grinder that is easy to use, hard to break and convenient to store.  It also comes with optional face shield – always a nice to have, even with the use of safety glasses.
